I realise that we'll be dead or demented soon, but there are a few of us old buggers who do this for fun. We don't learn lists (mostly because we can't remember why we open a fridge); our heads are full of crap simply because it was interesting when we encountered it. It's an evening out with beer, not a Nobel prize. I've just realised I don't know how to post this. Bugger.

I feel your pain my son. Your Weltschmerz is very real; so real I feel I could have written this piece myself. And maybe I did though I certainly don’t remember doing so. If I did I can only apologize for plagiarizing (my word, not yours) you so blatantly.
Try not to take things so seriously and don’t worry about the fridge. You will be dead soon and all will be revealed. And remember that Weltschmerz is universal. Even the young do not always find themselves in a good place. KFD Ruth was saying so only last night as we chatted in the hallowed sanctuary of the Albert Gents.

Don't you realise that the Quiz League is merely your opportunity to live out the reality of the future as depicted in The Time Machine by H G Wells. The Turing Tuners and The Shrimps and any other young quizzers are The Eloi. They are young and beautiful and caper about in the sunlight above ground. The rest of us are the brutish Morlocks dwelling in the darkness below ground. Our only satisfaction is emerging occasionally to drag one of the Eloi down below to sacrifice and eat. I hope there are enough Eloi to go round. We need more fresh blood (literally).

I read in a book somewhere that quizzing on a Wed night is likely the only thing separating most of us from the twin whammies of death and dementia but I can't for the life of me recall which one it was (or even if I've read a book at all)!
Wonder if I left it in the fridge??

I don't know who this mysterious "Chara" could be, but by crikey those few inspiring words have done a miraculous job. I'm feeling a most unfamiliar emotion. It's almost as if I'm ha
