Although I missed participating in last night's quiz I was interested to see a question on Alf Landon. When I was doing my Master's degree on the 1936 Presidential Election back in the day I wrote to Landon to get permission to look at his papers in The University of Kansas. While he granted permission disappointingly he claimed not to be able remember anything else about the Election. Ironically the stamp on the envelope containing his reply portrays Franklin Roosevelt. Has anyone else had contact with someone who has been the subject of a quiz question. I am, of course, discounting Megson's claim to have studied Theology with Rasputin.

I was fiddling with my cat’s whisker last night trying to tune my crystal set into the Dark Web……the things one has to do these days to score some Angel Delight……when I came upon this. Great to hear from you Mobo. How are things since you got out? “Ou sont les neiges d’antan” as Fr Schafernacker used to ask whenever he regained consciousness in front of the class. Was it really 1936 when you did your Master’s? God, it only seems like 50 years ago. I can still see you in the dorm at midnight, toasting your boy bits and parsnips in front of your single bar heater. Do you still wear that lime-green mankini with the Ribena stains (and worse) down the front. O Happy Day!
Disappointing that such a short article by a Master since 1936 should contain so many howling inaccuracies. Alf Landon never appeared on Bonanza. That was Michael. He played Little Joe, one of a posse of brothers who looked feck all like each other so we must assume that Ben, the father, had a horse and played fast and loose all over the Ponderosa. The brother who looked least like Little Joe was a big fecker called “Hoss” whose son Arlene went on to play for Norway and Manchester City.
Your insinuation that Rasputin attended the same seminary as Megson is equally unfounded. I have reread the definitive tome on the life and times of the great Russian monk "Ra Ra Rasputin" (Boney M press 1978) and can find no mention of any cleric from the Reeks.
